Frequently Asked Questions

How long can I stay in Australia on a visitor visa?

It depends on the subclass. Subclass 600 allows stays up to 12 months, while Subclass 601 and 651 allow up to 3 months per visit within a 12-month validity period.

Can I work on a visitor visa?

No, most visitor visas do not allow work. However, Subclass 600 (Business Visitor stream) permits short-term business activities like attending meetings or conferences.

Do I need health insurance for a visitor visa?

It's not mandatory, but strongly recommended. You must prove you can cover any medical costs during your stay, as you won't have access to Australia's Medicare system.

What happens if I overstay my visitor visa?

Overstaying makes you an unlawful non-citizen, which may lead to detention, removal, and a 3-year re-entry ban. You should apply for a Bridging Visa or leave before your visa expires.
